Every now and then I will post things about my Kindergarten class on this page. For the most part, I use this blog as a way to take my mind off of school. Sometimes though, I find things that are just too funny not to share. On occasion, I also like to brag about my students and how smart they are. I love Kindergarten. Things are certainly NEVER boring. Now isn't that the truth fellow teachers?!
During problem solving last week, the district provided us with what was basically a multiplication problem. No worries... my kids were rockstars. The expectations with problem solving are that the students draw a picture of their thinking, write a number sentence, write a sentence to explain their thinking and then show three different ways to solve the problem.
I love what sentence Zoe wrote to explain her thinking.
Can y'all read that? Didn't think so.
"Two + a lot of twos, it will make ten." Hahaha. Clearly, it was gonna be too overwhelming to write all those 2's (ya, know for the multiplication problem that we made into an addition problem, because its kindergarten people).
I loved Kaycee's sentence that showed her thinking as well.
"I know the answer was 10 because I used my fingers." Fingers are not one of our math tools, but hey, at least she told the truth.
When the kids are waiting for everyone to finish problem solving, they go to their tables and make combinations of the answer from that particular day. Here is the question I gave them.
So the answer was 8 and they made combinations of 8.
I think we need to work on our 8's lol. Precious angels. They try their best, sideways 8's and all!
The neatness of this makes me SO happy! Child after my OCD heart.
Anddd this friend did such a good job, after all he copied the teacher's PS journal onto his table ;) Way to go buddy.
They sure do keep me on my toes.
Hope I made you smile at least once today! Check back often for updates.
